Hi, I’m Cale Giachello, a professional drummer and educator with over 20 years of teaching and performing experience.
I was first introduced to drumming around the age of 1 or "as soon as I could hold the sticks" says my dad, Lenny Giachello, a drum educator for over 40 years. He taught me how to read and play music and is still one of my most influential mentors. I later studied at the Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA), the Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA), and Berklee College of Music, learning from some of the most respected drummers in the world—including, Joe LaBarbera, Joe Porcaro, and Ronald Bruner Jr. As a young player, I performed in the Los Angeles Multi-School Jazz Band alongside musicians like Kamasi Washington, Ronald Bruner Jr., and Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner, and later became a runner-up in the 2000 Guitar Center Drum-Off finals. Later on after college I did a few USO tours with the band Insoul, played drums in a group with DJ Greyboy called Taurus Authority, played drums with funk/soul band Delmos Wade, was the drummer for and toured the East Coast with singer and songwriter Bushwalla, and with him performed on several occasions with singer and songwriter Jason Mraz. I currently play gigs weekly in a variety of musical settings from Reggae to Rock to Jazz. I love all kinds of styles of music so I'm grateful to have the opportunity and ability to play with such diverse bands. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching many students—some who’ve gone on to professional careers. I love sharing what I've learned on my musical journey and it brings me great joy to see my students develop and grow as musicians. |
